Mommy's Day Off
This morning I woke up to an awful sore throat and it hurt to talk. I got up and started doing the usual get-ready-for-work-and-get-the-baby-ready-for-daycare morning routine while debating if I should go in. I figured since Elizabeth was feeling ok that maybe I should take her to daycare, call in to work and just take it easy. And that's what I did. Derrick and I dropped her off to daycare (since we still only have one vehicle that has a carseat) and he went to work for his long day while I headed back home.
I had a good laugh when I got back. The living room was a crime scene - Derrick's knit hat was on the floor in front of the couch, a cushion had been bounced off the couch, and the cat's toy was also on the floor (when usually it's kept upstairs). Twister and Bella were laying on the floor sunbathing but there was no sign of Nasha. Knowing very well where the suspect was I sweetly called her name. Sure enough I hear a thump from upstairs and she appeared at the top of the stairs looking very surprised I was home.
So in 30 minutes, Nasha (with some help from Twister I'm sure) bounced off the couch repeatedly to get the cushion off of it, stole Derrick's hat from the dining room table and probably tossed it around, played with Bella's cat toy, and then went upstairs to nest our bed up and decided to take a well deserved nap after all that play.
It was strange to be home alone with no baby and no Derrick. I kept thinking that the baby was sleeping and so would be walking around quietly while upstairs before reminding myself that she wasn't home. I did feel better towards the end of the day. It was nice to just lay in bed and get some rest. I also had some yummy homemade Chicken Noodle soup that I got at work the previous day for a shelter fundraiser (Soup for Shelter).
