Mommy's Day Out

Derrick had to give an exam today for his Forensic's Intro class. He was nervous about it and didn't sleep very well. He didn't go to bed until 3:00am and so it was hard for him to get up at 7:30am.

Today my workplace had their staff appreciation lunch. I have worked at the university for 5 years now and wasn't sure if they would be acknowledging it. Because Derrick was at work and I wanted to go to the luncheon we asked Derrick's mom if she could babysit Elizabeth for a couple hours. She was watching her neighbor's two kids but said she could take her since the time she would be there is the nap time for the two kids.

Elizabeth was a bear just before we left to go to grandma's house. She kept crying and couldn't be consoled even though I tried everything. I packed her up and she fell asleep in the car ride over to grandma's house. I dropped her off and went to the restaurant. Elizabeth slept the whole time she was there! I couldn't believe it. Derrick picked her up and his mom said 'you wouldn't know there were three kids in the house' because they were all napping. I was so glad that she slept because I was worried she would put a lot of stress on grandma. She did wake up just before Derrick got there and grandma fed her.

The luncheon was very nice and it was great to see my boss and all my coworkers. I didn't get anything because they acknowledge 10 years of service and up as well as people who got permanant appointment. The dish I picked was very good and I'm glad I chose it. It was teriyaki chicken on angel hair pasta with carmlized onions, celery and mushrooms. Yummy! It was great to be out and about and to catch up on what's going on at work.
