Are We There Yet?

That's what it felt like trying to get home.

My student and I got up around 9:30am this morning after going to bed around 3:00am. We were packing and just got overtired to the point where we were wide awake I think. We went to breakfast with our friend Hollie and took the trolley to the market to do some more shopping. We got back to the hotel/convention center area and went into La Valita to do some shopping in the little village of shops. Around 1:00pm we headed back to Hollie's hotel and sat with her while she waited for her transport to the airport for her flight.

We then went back to our hotel to make sure we were all packed up and had everything. We checked out of the hotel around 2:00pm and hailed a taxi to the airport. We got past security and were wandering towards our gate and Hollie came running up from behind us to surprise us. She and her coworker Robb joined us for a bite to eat while we waited for our flight. We got to our gate and the plane was delayed. Georgia's airport closed down due to the bad weather they were getting thanks to the Hurricane Emily.

So here's the breakdown of our trip:

Original leave time: 3:57pm
We boarded the plane: 4:00pm
Taxi-ed out to the runway (to sit there): 4:45pm
Took off: 5:15pm

Original leave time from GA: 8:14pm
We arrived in GA: 9:00pm

We got off the plane and saw that they were boarding our flight at 8:50pm so we raced over there in the hopes that the plane was still there (as it was 9:00pm). We had to take a subway to get over to the other concourse. We got to the gate at 9:10pm and they were just opening the door to board. We were so relieved!!!!

Taxi-ed out to the runway: 9:40pm
Took off: 9:55pm

Original time to arrive in Buffalo: 10:18pm
Time we arrived in Buffalo: 11:45pm

Miraculously our luggage made it too so that was a relief. I called Derrick while we were waiting to get off the plane and he met me at the airport. We went back to his mom's house to pick up Elizabeth since she was sleeping when he left. She woke up when we came in and gave me lots of smiles and stuck her tongue out in several different directions. She also gave me a hug around my neck and pulled my hair. It was so nice to hold her again. We went home and I fed her before putting her to bed. She was a little confused at first at the feeding method but it didn't take her long to adjust.
