Another baby shower
My coworkers threw me a baby shower today at work. This has been in the works for a month or so. It was a potluck event and there was a lot of good food brought to work today. I actually went back 3 times (which is unusual for me) to fill my plate everything was so good! I got some more cute stuff. The director of the library brought back the softest cutest outfit for the baby from Belgium when he was there with his girlfriend awhile ago. On the outfit it reads "je suis le petit de la famille!" which loosely translated is "I am the small one of the family". Another coworker made me a diaper bag! It's beautiful. I also got a baby bathrobe (yellow with duckies on it), sippy cups, bowls, a pooh bib, baby comb and brush set from other coworkers. Then I opened this box and everyone had chipped money in and they gave us a $160 gift certificate to Target!
I was very touched that everyone was so generous and I told them so. I feel so lucky and honored to work with such great people. I actually don't mind coming to work every day because there are wonderful people here to talk to and lean on if need be. Even before people knew I was pregnant, they offered their assistance if I needed it while I ran the department alone while my boss had gone on sabbatical. I also have a great boss who adjusted his time out on sabbatical for me when I found I was pregnant. Originally he had scheduled his period for October to March and he adjusted it so he would leave in August and come back by February so I could go out on leave.
I guess I'm being really mushy lately and looking back on my life. I have been very fortunate to have great bosses in every place I have worked since I was a teenager. My life has been good thus far and I look forward to what the future holds. I don't mind that I'm turning 30 (even though I know it's a milestone for some people). I can embrace it because I can't ask for anything more. I have a wonderful, caring husband, a nice house, a good job, two great dogs and a cool cat, and now a little one that will bless our lives.
