Baby's First Day
at daycare. Derrick and I decided to carpool to work as much as possible due to the huge increase in gas prices. We have to try and save money where we can. We got up earlier today and made sure we had everything together for Elizabeth's cubby hole (diapers, extra outfits, wipes, bottles, etc.)
We got to the daycare around 7:50am and met with her teacher. The woman working there asked if she could take her and so we passed Elizabeth to her. Well she started crying as soon as she got in this stranger woman's arms. She set her in the table (which has little chairs built into it) and while we were filling her cubby hole she just looked at us with this pitiful look and kept crying. It broke our hearts to see/hear her. The teacher picked her up and handed her to me and while we talked about different things she settled down and stopped crying.
While we were talking a 9 month old baby started fussing and so the teacher placed her at the table. Elizabeth watched this little girl as the teacher gave her some cheerios. There was a 4 month old boy there too and the teacher introduced them to each other. I put Elizabeth back down into her chair in the table and she didn't cry or fuss. She watched the little girl and then started playing with a toy the teacher handed to her. She didn't cry or even notice us leaving. It was so hard to leave her and we both were sick to our stomach's when we left the building.
Here she is sitting at the table:

Derrick called the daycare center to check on her around noon and they said she was such a doll! She had a bottle and also took a nap. She did one of her short naps (10 min or so) and woke up fussing. They picked her up and rocked her for a little bit and she fell back to sleep.
Here she is when we picked her up - they just put her down for another nap:

What a cutie! I love the little table. She looks so happy! I think it is harder on us as parents than on them when we leave.
